Time Share and Strawberry Picking
I stink at keeping up sometimes.
Near the end of April, we went to the time share at Duck, NC. The ocean felt pretty cold of course, but we got to fly kites, play in the sand, hunt for shells (check out my false tooth), find dead crabs, watch pelicans, and watch a jeep run out of gas along the shore. It rained a LOT while we were there, so I'm glad there was an indoor pool. Enid floated by herself for the first time, and she got in the deep end. There's also a US Army Corps of Engineers Research Pier right down from the time share, but we only saw it from afar.
We also went to the aquarium on Roanoke Island. It's quite small and not as cool as the one near Wilmington, but the girls definitely enjoyed it. There was a cute bunny greeting us just outside the entrance. Caitlyn and Enid got to play dress-up, pose with a whale skull, and pet stingrays and starfish.
One of the many houses for sale cracked Gerald and I up! You can see in the photo how small and old it looks, but the sign out front said "$495k"!! We got to shop in some cool places... a puzzle & game store (where we all spent plenty of moolah) and a bookstore that was PACKED to the gills upstairs and down. We ate some yummy food... the Rundown Cafe was DELICIOUS and they really put a feedbag on you. Enid fed some Koi there. I enjoyed it so much that I bought a bumper sticker.
We also got some REALLY good coffee at Duck's Cottage. While there, we met a lady with a Miniature Australian Shepherd... he was so cute and sweet that if I were a dog person, that's the kind of dog I'd want to get.
The Friday after we got home, we went to Airport U-Pick to pick strawberries. I was very proud of Enid... she didn't eat a single one while picking! Gerald's game plan worked... go furthest away from the starting point to find the best strawberries because people are lazy and pick mostly near the entrance. Enid found a lady bug (see photo) and some spider webs and spiders. The strawberries were very good and a great deal. I made a Strawberry Pudding with some of them.
So there... I FINALLY posted the photos!
