Standardizing is not the same as raising standards.

That subject line is just another idea from Sir Ken Robinson that I wanted to share, and of course it's so true. (I really want to read his books.)

He also says that everyone has an element and "To be in your element, you also have to love it." All children are dabblers because they are trying to find their element. If you ask a group of children how many think they are creative, they almost always all raise their hands. If you ask a group of adults, it's rare to find anyone with a raised hand.

"Our children are growing up at a time of tremendous uncertainty", and we should be "helping our children and ourselves have a lives that have purpose." Of course this involves creative thinking...

Let me leave you with this... Currently, there's a 30% dropout rate. Really? Maybe those kids just haven't been allowed to find their element.
