The Wonkalicious World of Enidisms

Last week was the first week that Enid hasn't gotten a "treat" or "monies" for earning all of her happy faces on the responsibility chart. It took it a while to sink in, but I think she understood what happened. Yesterday she lost a happy face for not cleaning up after being told several times to do so. When Gerald got home she said, "Daddy, I lost a happy face, but it's okay 'cause I can try again." She still doesn't get that when it's gone for the day, it's gone. We told her to try again for the next day and so far so good.

After we FINALLY finished reading Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator last night, Enid said, "Now we can read that other one with the chocolate factory. You know the one with all the chocolate in it. I want to read that one again, but why are there two movies of it? One is old for you and one is new for me."

This morning Enid and I were taking turns with her bug finger puppets. The butterflies were asking her where she's from and she said she was "born under a tree on a rock out there". Uh... "Not in a hospital?" the butterfly asked, and Enid replied, "No, you know, under a tree!!!"

Just now during lunch, she said, "Wasabi can't wait to show his mommy how big he is now! He's all grown up, and he can't wait to show her!! But Mommy, why didn't we see the daddy cat. Inari and Wasabi were in their mommy's belly together but the daddy wasn't there." I tried to gently explain the situation of shelter kitties so she'd understand. She then told me that "one day we'll see them again."

"When does that Catch the Bug thing start so I can have summer?", Enid asked. "The summer reading program starts on June 11th. We'll go to the library after we leave the preschool that day." "But Mommy, when is it going to staaaart??"

Ever since we had another visit to the preschool, Enid has been talking about her new friends and her new teacher. "Mommy, we need to bake some cookies to take to my preschool to share them so everybody else can have one... and my teacher." The summer program doesn't start for another week and a half, and I even showed her on the calendar today how long she has to wait. She's talking about it more and more. Baking cookies sounds good, but it'll have to wait for the weekend!
