NCaeyc Study Conference 2008
First of all, I had forgotten how tiring it can be simply walking from workshop to workshop to exhibit hall to resource room to hotel room to another workshop to hands-on room to yet another workshop... you get the picture. I enjoyed volunteering for the two workshops that I was assigned, and I've never made an easier $95 (refunded registration fee)! There were some interesting facts to learn, fun activities to explore, vendors with too much stuff I liked, and some quite humorous keynote speakers. It's quite odd to meet people who's text and resource books you have used and studied for years. Those of you in the field have heard of these incredible women no doubt.
I was laughing so hard when Sue Baldwin spoke that I was crying. She was kind enough to sign a copy of her book as seen in the photo below. She is truly a jack of all trades... she's a Certified Doula and a hospice volunteer, a consultant and trainer, an infant & preschool swim instructor, and the list goes on!

Dr. Clarissa Willis made the subject of brain research enjoyable during her closing address. A lot of her anecdotes were from her upbringing as a minister and actress/teacher's daughter. Her message was quite clear... What we do DOES matter.

I also attended a workshop led by Dr. Rebecca Isbell. She's like an evangelist for early childhood education. Amazing ideas and passion for what she does as a college professor and advocate. For some reason, I completely didn't think of getting a photo with her. She just blew me away. I'm so glad I got her extremely helpful handouts.
Just for kicks... My friend Sarah, who is an Instructor at Nash Community College, and I got to pose for a photo with Dr. Bunny. I also won a door prize from Colgate later on... a HUGE dental health pack that can easily be shared with Enid's preschool.
