Take a Child Outside Week & Kidsfest
Take a Child Outside Week falls between September 24-September 30, 2008. It was started in NC, if you can believe that, and it's become a national movement. Check it out and do your part (and no, little league and bitty kickers doesn't count).
On an unrelated note, Kidsfest 2008 is this weekend at Nash Community College. The NCC Early Childhood Club is in works for a similar event on a much smaller scale in the spring called a "Truck Touch". We'll be looking for people to donate baked goods and their time. Just a heads up. ;)

We have been walking outside every night for about a week now. We do a MILE! Nice thing to recognize.
Take a child outside week? I find it kind of sad that a national movement has to be formed to get parents to take some time to realize the benefits of taking our kiddos outside. :(
Oh, it's beyond sad, but just look at childhood obesity in America. We're a bunch of fat lumps.
