Giving this Holiday Season

One of the service projects the NCC Early Childhood Club is participating in is the Angel Tree for children from The Bassett Center, Salvation Army, and Free Will Baptist Children's Home.  We have picked two children aged 12+ to sponsor (after finding out we had more funds than we could have dreamed of), and there are several more left who have written wish lists. So, if you're in the area, swing on by Nash Community College's Student Development and sign up! OR You can always donate to Toys for Tots and any other number of charities this season. It's heartbreaking (that some children even asked for school supplies) and uplifting (that you can do so little to help) at the same time.

I also signed up to fill two stockings... one for a toddler girl in my name and one for a 12-14 year old boy in the club name. Okay, so how easy is it to buy small things a young teen boy might enjoy??? Not at all. I hope I did an okay job. I spent just under $10 on each stocking.

Next stop... food drive boxes.

It feels great to help those who you know truly need it and are genuinely appreciative.

Awesome. I like the idea of putting socks together, fun and you get to be creative. I've always enjoyed doing the Angel Tree. I'm amazed at some of the simple things kids ask for that most kids take for granted.

How did you all fair through the crazy weather this morning? Hope this afternoon is MUCH better.

Well, the pounding rain woke Gerald and I up some time between 3 & 4, but Enid never heard a thing. There were three lives lost within 30 miles of here, and there was some pretty bad damage less than 10 miles away. We were lucky this time around.

I saw the warnings for NC early this morning, the thunder had me up. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of life, terrible. We're under the gun until 7pm here, I hate it!
