a Day in Cary
Last Saturday morning, we headed to Cary bright and early and met a couple of Durham moms that are interested in starting a Waldorf home Kindergarten and their kids at Kids Together Park. I wholeheartedly recommend going to this park! It's wonderful! It's what happens when planners don't simply bulldoze everything down and level the land. It has things to do for kids of all ages and abilities, and there's shade, foliage, and seating for those who don't want to get down and dirty. It did, however, get really busy after 10:30. We stayed for an hour past that, and two hours of playing pooped us all out.
Later that day, we ate lunch at Jack Astor's, which I also recommend. Gerald had eaten at one in Canada several times, and this is the only one in the USA besides NY. They have a great variety on the menu and awesome individual apple pies. I don't even like apple pie that much and it was pretty darn good. Enid loved that you can draw all over the paper tablecloth (I randomly made a design and when I connected all the pieces it was one continuous path... not even planned!!!) and that the chandeliers were made of all kinds of drink bottles. There were lots of funny signs around too.
