What do the CIA, a farm, and a birthday party have in common?
We were at all three last Sunday! WARNING: Lots of photos!
Gerald is taking a Colonial VA history course, and we got to tag along for a field trip for free! We went to Claude Moore Colonial Farm up in McLean, VA. They were having an 18th Century Market Fair. It was very interesting, but I've always loved visiting plantations and historical sites too. The people there go about their day just as if they were in the year 1771. You can ask them questions and they can answer them! If I were a history major, I'd want an internship like that.
Enid chilling under a tree.

This is the way they took a bath???

Drying stuff inside the farm house.

Woodworking was tough stuff!

So was blacksmithing... especially if you were working up a sweat while others stood by eating and watching!!

I imagine these are the good ole boys.

Even the children were in full regalia.

Making a corn husk doll.

Selling wares.

Funny thing... DIRECTLY across the street from the farm's parking lot, is the CIA. No joke. Gerald kept telling me he would lose his security clearance because I was taking pictures! HA! HA! I couldn't resist this one!

After a day at the farm, we went to Nathaniel's 3rd birthday party. (He's going to be in preschool with Enid. His mom is Jen that I've mentioned before.) There was finger painting goodie bags (I got paint on the back of my shirt and another mom FREAKED out about it), water balloon tossing (I got pretty darn wet), pin the nose on the clown, and a birthday hat pinata. I think Enid enjoyed herself, because she didn't want to leave.

TOOT! TOOT!
