Michaelmas Nature Table
Traditionally, Michaelmas is celebrated as the time that the archangel Michael threw Lucifer out of heaven and George slayed the dragon here on earth. (St. George is the earthly representation of Michael.) It's a time to talk about being brave, facing our fears, and taming our "inner dragons". We gather the courage for the coming darkness of fall and winter.
It's also usually a harvest festival. The fruits of summer labor have paid off and many can be found putting food by for the long cold winter. At Morning Song, we gathered and pressed apples and ate apple crisp. The children also wet felted "shooting star" balls, made their own marigold dye, and have been flying them through the air! Enid and I always read stories about St. George and the dragon and this year we had a dragon and a horse for George to ride on our nature table.

(Joya made that fairy for Enid after she kept singing and telling the story of the fairy who went a marketing.)
We've realized that it's going to be hard continuing our nature table as usual with Ebi around. She runs off with the acorns and wool pumpkins... it's a mess.
