Christmas Eve 2010

Gerald's parents, brother, and niece all got here on Christmas Eve Eve, so the girls were getting excited together. The next night, Gerald and I took them to look at Christmas lights. We started by admiring our own modest decorations, including a new snowman they had brought for us.

The lights would come in spurts with concentrated areas of houses, then we'd drive for a ways without seeing any. It was interesting making the connections as we saw which neighborhoods had high Indian populations etc. I joked that this one won the Morrisville award this year. It had the most organized design with the most coverage. Don't get me wrong, there were houses with just as many lights (maybe even more), but these didn't appear to be vomited into trees.

Last year, we saw the funniest blow-up, so this year we went looking for it again and there it was! Santa being chased up a tree by a dog and getting his pants torn off. Hilarious stuff to Enid "I tell ya"!

When we got back home, we fixed a plate of cookies with a carrot for the reindeer and a glass of milk. When Santa called Enid this year, he told her that chocolate chip cookies are his favorite, so she insisted Grandma help her make some. She and Caitlyn had already helped make decorated sugar cookies and a cookie tree, but Grandma obliged.
