the wonderful world of computer work
Gerald's new position within his parent company has him working from home. While overhearing him curse at his desk, I just had to ask him what was wrong. He said that somewhere in Asia, a person named a switch that he's working on "I need a name". Seriously! I don't know if that is a poor translation on their part or they thought it was funny, but apparently when it comes to the managers dealing with it, it's not funny. Oh... another one was named "poor config". Maybe they were marking their poor work so they could go back and fix it later but someone realized they were idiots and they were fired before they got to fix the problems. That's my guess.
Anyway, hearing all of his work in person now as it happens right in our living room makes me even more grateful that I am not a computer person. Ick.
PS: I promise there will be photos before Thanksgiving.
