Hot Dogs are Evil... or are they?

Hot dogs are a choking hazard? Really?? Next they'll be saying you shouldn't feed popcorn and marshmallows to infants.

Seriously, this is an issue of common sense, is it not? Just think about all those crazy warnings you see on consumer products. When you read them, don't you think, "Wow, what idiot would do that?!?" Well, someone somewhere did it, or that warning would not exist. By the way, did you know that coffee is hot?

In a policy statement issued today in Pediatrics, the American Academy of Pediatrics' Committee on Injury, Violence, and Poison Prevention calls on the Food and Drug Administration and Consumer Product Safety Commission to tighten supervision over food and toys that may pose a hazard.

The paper warned that choking is a leading cause of death among children, especially those under 3 years old.

According to the committee, latex balloons, coins, candies, and hot dogs pose the some of the biggest threats.
