Lantern Walk (Martinmas)

Saturday night, we had a Lantern Walk at Morning Song. Joya asked a few of the other Waldorf home nursery teachers to come and help her with a puppet show, The Little Shepard Boy.

Then we all headed outside, gathered and lit the lanterns that the kids had made, and headed out on the trail through the woods singing. There were luminaries along the trail, and a bunch of parents had worked to clear the path a week ago. Although Enid had been singing the lantern songs practically nonstop for days, she wouldn't sing on the walk! I tried to take more photos and video, but my camera is just not friendly with the rural areas of Chapel Hill at night. The stars and moon were bright, and it was a lovely night.

As we made our way back out of the woods, we were met by an awesome bonfire. I had baked 30 apples to take, so we enjoyed those along with some kind of yummy little gingersnaps and cider. Enid hung out with her new bosom buddy, Sophia, for a little while as everyone sung around the fire.

We were the first ones to leave around 7pm, but Enid was already acting tired. She made it to bed late of course, but she wasn't wired and zonked right out.
