Is "Stranger Danger" a Myth?

After the Playground Committee Meeting at DEPC today, I read some interesting facts about letting children play wild and free like in days or yore.

"According to U.S. Department of Justice statistics on violent crimes, between 1973 and 2002, out of every thousand children kidnapped, just one or two of them were abducted by strangers."

"According to the National Center for Health Statistics, children are four times more likely to die of heart disease than to be kidnapped by a stranger."

That makes you go hmmmm.
