the 1st, 3rd, & 4th of July (& a cat)
The week of the 4th, we were here and there as always, but I wanted to post a few of my favorite photos.
On the 1st, we took Enid to pajama time at the West Regional Library. Of course she was in the minority wearing her pajamas... the superhero ones. She's so glad she gets to attend a good story time again (We still miss Mrs. Aimee's though!). The theme was the holiday of course, and after a parade around the room with cones and boxes for instruments, there was the cutest puppet show about a dog emptying his owner's picnic basket and hiding a bone inside to surprise him. Funny stuff, and Enid giggled about it for a while.

On the 3rd, I took Enid to Vacation Circle School with a mixed-age group of children between 3 and 8. The theme was "Sailing the Seas on Emotion". I must say, Reverend Su had planned some clever activities. They created pirate hats because they are "the captains of their own emotions" and eye patches to "see things in a different perspective". They also decorated their own treasure chests into which they can whisper angry thoughts to forget or happy ones to remember. Enid swears hers works! During all of the games etc, they earned gold coins for their treasure boxes. Enid wasn't shy when it came to speaking up!
That night, we met Gerald, Clayton, and Caitlyn at Fat Daddy's. Man, that was a great veggie burger. I don't know why we'd never eaten at Fat Daddy's where we used to live.
Saturday morning, we walked down to the pool and later ran some shopping errands, grilled hot dogs, had ice cream sundaes, and went to the state fairground for fireworks. We got there an hour early or so and there were already a bazillion people tailgating and hanging around. We actually parked by Carter Finley Stadium (directly across the street from the fireworks) and managed to dodge the worst of the traffic when it was all over. During all of the waiting, Enid entertained us and herself as you can see below. There were some neat fireworks... hearts (Enid called them bananas) and smiley faces... but they still couldn't top LOW where we lived in VA.
And for the grand finale... Wasabi pretending he's Inari, the dead cockroach.
