Dan Zanes & Friends at the Art Park

Last year, we picked the They Might be Giants as our summer concert at the NC Museum of Art's park. This year, it worked out that we could see Dan Zanes & Friends. I bought tickets as soon as they were on sale and we waited patiently. Well, today was the day. The crowd was smaller than I expected, and the heat and humidity was worse than I thought it would be. We ended up right at the front edge of the lawn area under the shade of the sound guy's tower-o-stuff. Whew. That helped a lot.

Our friends from southern Chapel Hill, Holli, Liam, and their daughter Mari, were there when we got there, which was a nice surprise. Dan Zanes came out a couple of times and checked an instrument or two while wearing jeans, sneakers, and a somewhat toned down shirt. Those of you that know Dan Zanes know this is unusual. Holli and I both commented on the lack of crazy colors and combinations, but when the show started he came out in a neon green sport blazer. Of course, that didn't last long in the heat.

Anyway, Mari and Enid headed down front to dance a few times and even briefly got on stage. Enid stayed right in front of Dan Zanes most of the time she was down there, and at the end when they walked out through the crowd playing the final song, she was trailing right behind. Check the art blog on Video Hump Day for a brief clip. Below I have pointed to Enid in the first photo so you can spot her easily.
