a Work in Progress

So I was in class last night and everyone was introducing themselves, and we found out that one girl is in the early college program. She's 18. The Instructor, Catherine Jancso, tells her something like "Wow, that's young, but I'm here to help if you need me blah blah blah." Then there was a little talk about taking college courses at a young age, and Ms Jancso turns to me and says, "Though you don't look far behind her." When I said that I'm 31, her jaw fell open and she said, "Really?!? Good for you!!!"

I'm realizing more and more why people assume I'm in that "had a kid really young and is immature" category when Enid and I are having fun in public, as well as why they are amazed and always comment on how wonderfully behaved, well-spoken, and smart she seems. (My job is far from done.)

On the other hand, people seem to assume Patrick and Samantha are my children as well from time to time.  That would put me in another category.  Glad I'm not there, but I have respect up the wazoo for those who are and have handled it gracefully. You know who you are. *wink*wink*
