Decisions, Decisions

When this school year is over, we'll probably be headed west. A lot of you know that if money falls from the sky, Enid will be going to Emerson Waldorf School. Since that probably won't happen and I'm not a fan of most public schools in the area, I've been looking into all of the Magnet school options. We've decided that even if Enid's testing is within limits for early entry into Kindergarten, we probably won't send her in the fall. I am against rushing her into anything, and I don't think she needs to be out of childhood that quickly. She's so far ahead of others in her "class generation" when it comes to literacy, reasoning, self help skills, etc, that I am worried she'd fall in the cracks later on.

On a related note, Gerald finally said he wouldn't mind if Enid was homeschooled. That is a choice beyond scary for me, but I have no doubt she'd do well. Homeschooling is way too easy for any Larry or Moe in NC (You don't even have to notify the state that you're homeschooling until your child is turning 7.), but the freedom in curriculum choice is nice since I have a background in educating young children through age 12. Plus, there are numerous resources for homeschooling in the Wake County area without traveling too far or spending much money. There are a lot of decisions that go along with homeschooling in regards to my own schooling and working et cetera. Plus, we'll be further away from family and in need of quality care at times.

ANYWAY... We have more than plenty of time to make decisions. BUT You all know how time flies.
