Waldorf Education Day & a Flashback (& a kitty)
Not-so-bright but early Saturday morning, Sarah and I drove to Emerson Waldorf School in Chapel Hill for Waldorf Education Day. It was a rather chilly slow start, but after the keynote was over, we headed out to different parts of the school for workshops.
The first one we attended was in the Kindergarten building. There was a little discussion of how the early childhood teachers (Patricia Cornell & Kathleen Stone-Michael hosted) use nature in developmentally appropriate ways for the children. Then we went out onto the Kindergarten porch and made moss gardens. After I had sewed a little gnome, Enid took possession of it.

The next workshop we chose, which was about Geometry in nature, continued for two sessions. David Nikias was very informative in his discussion, demonstration, and examples of the Fibonacci Sequence among other things. He was just as excited, if not more so, than a child would be. He made me wish I could go back through school with teachers that interesting. Hopefully Enid will have more fulfilling experiences.
I finally got around to these photos of Enid in the snow this past Tuesday. She was so happy to make a snow angel... it's just not the same making them on carpet.
Almost forgot.... super kitty.
